In fact service categories listed below befits an individual based on two aspects: Quality (Guna) of a person and Activity (Karma), as explained in “Frequently Asked Questions”

1. GLOVESCO MEMBERSHIP

INTRODUCTION
This section is divided under (i) Membership Guidelines and (ii) Membership Application Form. The membership scheme is not meant to be centralized but is being established to help individuals more easily interact with one another. Names of members and the data collected will be registered and kept by the various Coordinators of various organizational levels and all such information will be kept strictly confidential by those collecting the data.

Glovesco Membership Guidelines

INTRODUCTION
GLOVESCO offers four categories of FREE Membership for anyone interested to become connected with a self-sufficient rural based varnasrama community life-style, and this, even before one may be ready to move to the country.
We recognize, and also value, the need for individuals, and groups, to closely associate with one another, in order to learn more about the aims and objectives outlined in our GLOVESCO MISSION STATEMENT.

What follows are the Guidelines for becoming a GLOVESCO General Member, followed by the four designated Categories of membership. For those who wish to join us in our endeavor to experience a God centered life-style based on the principles of “Simple Living and High Thinking”, please read the Registration Procedures below. In accepting to become officially registered Members, please take note of the recommended Activities for members of each category.
1. Guidelines to become a “GLOVESCO General Member”:
a) Open to individuals from any denomination.
b) Sympathetic to the Mission Statement, Mission Goals and Supportive Objectives of GLOVESCO.
c) Willing to promote locally such aims and objectives of varnasrama.
d) Must fill in the “GLOVESCO General Membership—Application Form”.
e) Must supply two references.

2. Categories of “GLOVESCO General Members”
a) Individual (one person) [See section “BYS Membership” for Youth]
b) Family (one family)
c) Community (more than one family, either having land or working towards having land and developing as like a farm community)
d) Village (families living off the land and, specifically, those developing as a village community)

3. Registration Procedure for “GLOVESCO General Members”
Each new member will be registered under his closest established and recognized “Varnasrama Educational Steering Committee” (VESCO). Five registered members are needed to establish a steering committee at any of the following 5 levels (see below). Such five members must be approved, recognized or appointed by the level above them. Each steering committee has one appointed VESCO Coordinator (***) who is the link with other VESCO steering committees, both above and below his level.

FIVE LEVELS OF STEERING COMMITTEES
1. Local level (Village, Town, or City)
2. Regional level (Province, State, Districts, etc…)
3. National level (Country)
4. Continental level
5. Global level

*** VESCO COORDINATORS

Each VESCO Steering Committee is composed of at least five registered GLOVESCO GENERAL MEMBERS, from whom one Coordinator is selected by that group. Thus each continent will have one Continental VESCO Coordinator, who will coordinate with many National VESCO Coordinators within his continent; each country will have one National VESCO Coordinator, who will coordinate with many Regional VESCO Coordinators within his country; each region will have one Regional VESCO Coordinator, who will coordinate with VESCO Coordinators within his region; and each village will have one Village VESCO Coordinator, who will coordinate with the members of his village. All VESCO Coordinators will form a committee of five GLOVESCO members, at their respective levels, to help implement the aims and objectives of GLOVESCO.
The selection of Coordinators can be done either by an existing GLOVESCO Coordinator at a higher level or by registered GLOVESCO members at any level, with the sanction by a higher level VESCO Committee. The lowest level is the local village level, while the highest level is the Global Varnasrama Educational Steering Committee.
VESCO Coordinators will be like Facilitators, helping individuals and groups to become better organized. They are not independent agents and they have no particular power save and except to help establish new VESCO steering committees and help appoint or select new VESCO Coordinators.
The names of all new VESCO steering committees and VESCO Coordinators must be made known to both higher and lower levels by communicating names of individuals holding responsible positions (VESCO committee members and Coordinators) to our Website, www.varnasrama.org/membership.
All interested persons will be directed to the appointed VESCO Coordinators in their area. The names of such Coordinators will be listed on our Website (Resource Directory-VESCO Coordinators) so that people may get in contact with them.
Activities within the four Categories of GLOVESCO General Membership:

a. Individual Membership (Guidelines)
· Chanting the Holy Names of God daily, minimum 20 minutes.
· Reading the Holy Scriptures daily, minimum 20 minutes.
· Promoting the aims and objectives of Varnasrama, as outlined in the various statements of GLOVESCO.
· Endeavoring to develop the four pillars of Dharma: discipline, compassion, cleanliness and truthfulness.
· Associating with other like minded persons in one’s locality.

b. Family Membership (Guidelines)
· Chanting the Holy Name of God daily, minimum 20 minutes.
· Reading the Holy Scriptures daily, minimum 20 minutes.
· Promoting the aims and objectives of Varnasrama, as outlined in the various statements of GLOVESCO.

c. Community Membership (may be in City but moving towards country)
· Small (2 to 10 families)
o Weekly program
o Connected with or developing a rural project
o Follows the guidelines of individual and family members

· Medium (11 to 50 families)
o Weekly program
o Connected with or developing a rural project
o Follows the guidelines of individual and family members

· Large (51 families and more)
o Weekly program
o Connected with or developing a rural project
o Follows the guidelines of individual and family members

d. Village Membership
o Small Vaisnava Village: (10 to 50 families)
o Medium Vaisnava Village: (51 to 100 families)
o Large Vaisnava Village: (101 and up)
o All follow the guidelines of community members.
o Living in and developing a village community

*** All GLOVESCO Members follow the guidelines as outlined for Individual Members and Family Members.

*** One Membership Form will allow all individuals to register either as

1. Individual, 2. Family, 3. Community or 4. Village Members.

Procedure for on-line Registration:

Membership should be forwarded to the nearest VESCO Coordinator in your area.
Please check the list of names available on our site in “Resource Directory”, under “VESCO Coordinators”.

3. SERVICE CATEGORIES TO GET INVOLVED!
V. 2. (d) (i) Varnasrama Service Categories (Meant for Coordinators and General Members)
Many would actually like to be involved in spreading the varnasrama mission but often they do not know how this may be possible. In addition, all too often devotees also have difficulty understanding what is their natural occupation or varna. In order to address both dilemmas and to help establish and coordinate the activities of varnasrama, GLOVESCO offers a total of 15 Service Categories. These cover some of the basic activities found in all four varnas and are meant to assist devotees understand their natural occupation as per their natural inclination, desire and propensity.

Background Information and Introduction
The Varnasrama Service Category Proforma is especially designed to identify various areas of service which may be available to registered GLOVESCO members. There is a need to engage various individuals, at whatever level may be suitable for them and in whatever activity they may be inclined to perform.
The categories listed provide an initial choice of possible engagements for interested persons). All such services are purely voluntary and should be performed essentially for the pleasure of the Lord and His devotees.
These descriptions of various “Service Categories” are according to natural qualities (guna) and natural activities (karma) of individuals.
In total 15 “Service Category” is described under the following sub-divisions:

1. Definition, 2. Duties, 3. Qualifications and 4. Application.
Those interested to take up any of the following services should fill the Proforma entitled “Varnasrama Service Application”.

1. CONSULTANTS
Definition: A Consultant is one who is experienced and well versed in some particular specialized field in connection with varnas and asramas.
Duties: Consultants will provide information and guidance in their field of expertise, when approached by Coordinators, Monitors and Editors of GLOVESCO.
Qualifications: 1. Must be humble. 2. Must be experienced in communication, dialogue and interpersonal relationships. 3. Must be well acquainted with the Mission Statement, Mission Goals and Supporting Objectives of GLOVESCO. 4. Must have a strong sadhana. 5. Must have vision. 6. Must demonstrate empathy towards all individuals and all living entities. 7. Must be knowledgeable in his particular field
Application: Must fill in the VARNASRAMA SERVICE APPLICATION and forward it to any two National Coordinators.

2. COORDINATORS
Definition: One who facilitates communication, does net-working and helps realize the overall aims and objectives of GLOVESCO.
Duties: Coordinators are needed at the Global, Continental, National, Regional, District and Local levels to help form and oversee the development of Varnasrama Educational Steering Committees (VESCO). Coordinators keep in contact with individuals at the higher and lower levels of the GLOVESCO infrastructure. They help expand the network of GLOVESCO by finding individuals to take up various responsibilities according to their abilities and desires. They keep in regular contact with other Coordinators, both those above and below in the hierarchy of the organization. They must also submit Yearly Reports of their activities to Coordinators above them. Coordinators at the Global, Continental and National levels endeavor, initially, to establish “Varnasrama Initiative Teams” which eventually become the formal Varnasrama Educational Steering Committees (VESCO) for those respective levels.
Qualifications: 1. Must be very humble. 2. Must be from the area they will represent. 3. Must be experienced in communication, dialogue and interpersonal relationships. 4. Must be well acquainted with the Mission Statement, Mission Goals and Supporting Objectives of GLOVESCO. 5. Must have a strong sadhana. 6. Must have vision. 7. Must demonstrate empathy towards all individuals and all living entities. 8. Ideally, must have a university background, although not an essential prerequisite.
Application: Must fill in the VARNASRAMA SERVICE APPLICATION and forward it to any two Coordinators above him.

3. DONORS
Definition: A Donor is someone who is willing to contribute financially, in kind or in good (for example land) towards fulfilling the mission of varnasrama.
Duties: Donors contribute whenever possible as per their desires.
Qualifications: 1. Must be humble. 2. His/her main qualification is a desire to help the varnasrama mission. 3. Should donate monies earned honestly.
Application: Must fill in the VARNASRAMA SERVICE APPLICATION and forward to any Coordinator. One may also directly fill in the Proforma as outlined in the section SUPPORT/DONATIONS on the VARNASRAMA Website.

4. EDITORS
Definition: Editors are those who screen, edit (when need-be) and write articles and news items to be submitted to the VARNASRAMA website for printing in a Public Forum.
Duties: In addition to screening articles submitted to the website, Editors may also regulate and/or monitor the contents of articles appearing in any Conference, and provide advice to the Moderators of such Conferences. Editors will automatically serve as members of the Global Varnasrama Educational Steering Committee, GLOVESCO.
Qualifications: 1. Must be humble. 2. Must be experienced in communication, dialogue and interpersonal relationships. 3. Must be well acquainted with the Mission Statement, Mission Goals and Supporting Objectives of GLOVESCO. 4. Must have a strong sadhana. 5. Must have vision. 6. Must demonstrate empathy towards all individuals and all living entities. 7. Must have experience and expertise as an Editor.
Application: Must fill in the VARNASRAMA SERVICE APPLICATION and forward it to any two National Coordinators.

5. FARMERS
Definition: A Farmer is a “cultivator” in the traditional sense of the term (one who tills the land and protects the cows).
Duties: Farmers are individuals who are either presently engaged as such or who would like to be engaged in this noble occupational service. Farmers must work towards self-sufficiency. They will avoid using dangerous chemicals. They will give all protection to the land, cows and all other living entities.
Qualifications: 1. Must be humble. 2..Must be well acquainted with the Mission Statement, Mission Goals and Supporting Objectives of GLOVESCO.
Application: Must fill in the VARNASRAMA SERVICE APPLICATION and forward it to any two Regional, District or Local Coordinators.

6. HELPERS
Definition: A Helper is someone who may or may not have any particular manual skill but who is able and ready to assist others in various duties.
Duties: Helpers will assist other in various tasks and works.
Qualifications: 1. Must be humble. 2. Must have a good sadhana. 4. Must have empathy towards all individuals and all living entities.
Application: Must fill in the VARNASRAMA SERVICE APPLICATION and forward it to any two National, Regional, District, or Local Coordinators.

7. INSTRUCTORS
Definition: An Instructor is one who teaches what he knows and facilitates the learning process in others.
Duties: Instructors will be essentially teaching in either formal or nonformal settings things which will be useful to the learners.
Qualifications: 1. Must be humble. 2. Must be experienced in communication, dialogue and interpersonal relationships. 3. Must be well acquainted with the Mission Statement, Mission Goals and Supporting Objectives of GLOVESCO. 4. Must have a strong sadhana. 5. Must have vision. 6. Must demonstrate empathy towards all individuals and all living entities. 7. Must possess the qualities of a brahmana.

8. MANAGERS
Definition: A Manager is one who “administers” or “oversees” some particular varnasrama project or some aspect of varnasrama development.
Duties: Managers will generally work under some established system and follow the guidelines given within a particular infrastructure.
Qualifications: 1. Must be humble. 2. Must be experienced in communication and dialogue. 3. Must be well acquainted with the Mission Statement, Mission Goals and Supporting Objectives of GLOVESCO. 4. Must have a strong sadhana. 5. Must have vision. 6. Must demonstrate empathy towards all individuals and all living entities.

9. MODERATORS
Definition: A Moderator is one who “moderates” or “oversees” a particular Conference on the VARNASRAMA Website.
Duties: Moderators will be responsible to direct the overall development of a particular Conference. In particular, Monitors will decide who can participate in the Conference and will see that the discussions and views expressed are on the subject matter are not in any way offensive or intimidating to other participants.
Qualifications: 1. Must be humble. 2. Must be experienced in communication, dialogue and interpersonal relationships. 3. Must be well acquainted with the Mission Statement, Mission Goals and Supporting Objectives of GLOVESCO. 4. Must have a strong sadhana. 5. Must have vision. 6. Must demonstrate sensitivity and empathy towards all individuals and all living entities.

10. MONITORS
Definition: A Monitor is one who “monitors”, “supervises” or “oversees” one or more specific defined areas (Headings, Sub-Headings) on the VARNASRAMA Website.
Duties: Monitors will be responsible to oversee the overall development of a particular section or Heading on the varnasrama website. In particular, Monitors will maintain their particular section by providing new and relevant information, answering inquiries from the general public and encouraging dialogue and exchange with anyone interested in the subject matter.
Qualifications: 1. Must be humble. 2. Must be experienced in communication, dialogue and interpersonal relationships. 3. Must be well acquainted with the Mission Statement, Mission Goals and Supporting Objectives of GLOVESCO. 4. Must have a strong sadhana. 5. Must have vision. 6. Must demonstrate sensitivity and empathy towards all individuals and all living entities.

11. PROOF READERS
Definition: A Proof Reader is one who corrects, edits, and embellishes texts which will appear on the VARNASRAMA Website.
Duties: Proof Readers will work independently taking up particular assignments based on their understanding and time availability.
Qualifications: 1. Must be humble. 2. Must be well acquainted with the English language. 3. Ideally, one should have some previous experience in proof reading. 4. Must understand the Mission Statement, Mission Goals and Supporting Objectives of GLOVESCO. 5. Must have a strong sadhana.

12. RESEARCHERS
Definition: A Researcher is one who engages in some specific research work in order to help promote the overall aims and objectives of varnasrama development.
Duties: Researchers will work independently taking up particular assignments based on their understanding or at the request of other authorities.
Qualifications: 1. Must be humble. 2. Must be experienced in communication and dialogue. 3. Must be well acquainted with the Mission Statement, Mission Goals and Supporting Objectives of GLOVESCO. 4. Must have a strong sadhana. 5. Must have vision. 6. Must show empathy towards all individuals and all living entities.

13. SKILLED LABORER
Definition: A Skilled Laborer is a specialist in some particular trade or manual occupation.
Duties: Skilled Laborers will perform services according to their specialized skills.
Qualifications: 1. Must be humble. 2. Must have a good sadhana. 3. Must have empathy towards all individuals and all living entities.

14. WRITERS
Definition: A Writer is one who has an ability and inclination to write in connection with the overall promotion of varnasrama development.
Duties: Writers will submit articles from time to time on either topics of their choice or topics proposed to them by VESCO committee members.
Qualifications: 1. Must be humble. 2. Must be experienced in communication and dialogue. 3. Must be well acquainted with the Mission Statement, Mission Goals and Supporting Objectives of GLOVESCO. 4. Must have a strong sadhana. 5. Must have vision. 6. Must demonstrate empathy towards all individuals and all living entities. 7. Should have previous experience in writing and submitting articles to public forums.

15. REPORTERS
Definition: A Reporter is one who has some writing ability and interest to collect various kinds of noteworthy news connected with the overall varnasrama mission and to report such news to our varnasrama forums, either website, bulletins or magazines.
Duties: Reporters will serve either in some particular region under the general guidance of local some Coordinator or as a free-lancer directly under the Webmaster of our varnasrama websites.
Qualifications: 1. Must be humble. 2. Must be experienced in communication, dialogue and interpersonal relationships. 3. Must be well acquainted with the Mission Statement, Mission Goals and Supporting Objectives of GLOVESCO. 4. Must have a strong sadhana. 5. Must have vision. 6. Must demonstrate empathy towards all individuals and all living entities. 7. Must be knowledgeable in his particular field

Website Bank is a collection of URLs of resourceful websites that form part of Research. Developing the website bank and keeping close watch on the updates on these websites form the area of service that somebody can take up.

The following is required to take this service:
a. Internet accessibility
b. Basic searching techniques (which can be easily learnt).

2. Get Involved – in Compiling/ Editing/ Layout designing/ Proof Reading/ Glossary/ Index for publications:
Varnasrama Book Trust (VBT) has on-going Books publishing project, providing ample opportunities for those interested to get-involved.
Books publishing project involved following areas of work:

1. Compiling books (should be link in the same page)
2. Editing books (should be a link in the same page)
3. Layout designing
4. Proof Reading
5. Preparing Glossary
6. Preparing Index

a. Compiling books: The books to be compiled are meant for Varnasrama College. These booklets or books will be references that will be taught or studied a systematic course plan called “Educational Modules”. GLOVESCO through VBT offers get-involved opportunities in compiling the following books:

1. Using of natural, non-hybrid seeds as opposed to hybrid seeds.
2. Natural medicines produced from cow products.
3. Milk, its nutritional values, its use as yogurt, butter and ghee
4. Vedic agriculture using the ox, its benefits.
5. The extended family concept and its advantages.
6. Land and its value in the context of self-sufficiency.
7. History of greater India and surrounding Asian countries in particular.
8. Angkor Wat and its links with Indian art and culture.
9. Benefits of a pure vegetarian diet (health, ecological, economical, ethical, etc.).
10. How to make one's own soap, tooth powder, washing soap, natural detergents (soap nut trees, etc.).
11. Making oil from coconut (for cooking), from castor (for burning,replacing costly petrol).
12. Making one's own cloth, weaving (Gandhi's proposal).
13. Keeping bee-hives, benefits of honey and similar products.
14. Making compost, natural fertilizers.
15. The use of cow urine and its antiseptic values.
16. Using cow dung to make cakes for burning saving costly fuel expenditure.
