The “Varnasrama Development in Malaysia” seminar was held on Sunday, August 23, 2009, at the Riverstone Eco Resort in Hulu Yam just outside of Kuala Lampur with His Holiness Bhakti Raghava Swami as the main speaker at the event. Some 30 ISKCON leaders from different parts of Malaysia assembled at the Riverstone Eco Resort for their ISKCON Malaysia National Council Meeting. Part One of the Varnasrama Seminar included various Power Point presentations such as: (1) “ISKCON’s Four Movements” outlining Srila Prabhupada’s vision for spreading Lord Caitanya’s Movement on a wide scale,
(2) the Position Paper “Promoting Vrindaban Village Development in India” adopted by the ISKCON India leadership in year 2008 and (3) the document “Varnasrama-based Rural Development Ministry” discussed by the ISKCON India leadership in April, 2009. This was followed by a Video presentation entitled “Four Waves of ISKCON” echoing the four movements identified by Srila Prabhupada: (1) Sankirtan Movement, (2) Deity Worship Movement, (3) Spiritual Initiation Movement and (4) Varnasrama Movement. |

In his last days’ message to the devotees, Srila Prabhupada put emphasis on the importance of Varnasrama and mercifully left the 50% of the job of his spiritual mission for his empowered disciples, giving them an opportunity to thus serve the Lord and gain proximity with Him, and they in turn carrying on the tradition of munificence have passed it on us, while guiding us by example. |

By Dusyanta dasa (UK) After checking how many devotees read the last article on Cow protection it seemed quite popular with some positive remarks and comments.The overwhelming momentum in Iskcon today is building towards the actual proper establishment of cow protection.The past idea that we just have some Cows hanging around with some red handprints on their sides and some garlands around their necks and costing a whole lot of money to keep is passing us by now. |
